Code Update Training

This webpage will be updated as the RAC finalizes their report to the Department of L&I.

In accordance with the requirements of Act 45 of 1999 as amended, the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Review and Advisory Council (RAC) will complete review of the 2021 I-Codes in 2024. The code provisions that were adopted during this process are expected to take effect on July 13, 2025. PA UCC Residential Code Update: Part 1 (1 hr)

This session will review implications of transitioning to the 2021 ICC base codes, discuss PA legislative and RAC amendments, and dive into some highlights of the new code provisions for residential construction. 

PA UCC Residential Code Update: Part 2 (1 hr)

This session will build on Part 1 by providing an overview of the most substantial changes between the 2018 and 2021 ICC base codes for residential construction.

To learn more about these upcoming changes, schedule a training session with the knowledgeable staff of the Pennsylvania Housing Research Center today! Training sessions can be held in person at your location or via Zoom. Due to overwhelming requests for training, groups of 10 or less may be asked to consolidate with another group or to start with scheduled webinars.

  • Expected effective date is July 13, 2025.
  • The final RAC report is expected to be submitted to the Department of L&I by October 1, 2024.
  • Access the 2021 International Residential Code (IRC) online.
  • Access the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) online.
  • The updated Pennsylvania Alternative Residential Energy Provisions (PA-Alt) will be released in early 2025 pending the final RAC report submittal.
  • The Compliance Worksheet for the Pennsylvania Alternative Residential Energy Provisions will be released following the standard's publication.
